Currently missing academia and acting accordingly. That means working on grad school apps, but also applying to conferences. I've been deep-reading Gender Trouble; excited to see whether orthodox Freudianism is good without someone whispering that it's bad in your ear. Also about to reread my favorite novel, David Dabydeen's A Harlot's Progress.
This is all between shifts at a pizzeria, which I'm also working on. On the one hand, I'm at the age where free food is really important to me. On the other hand, my coworkers sit largely on a spectrum from ba'alei lashon hara to guys who missed their calling asking Socrates stupid questions. In conclusion, foodservice is a land of contrasts.
I have two upcoming presentations. This June at SWPACA I'm presenting on precarity as theodicy in Minecraft Parkour Civilization. Then, in October, I'll be at the RMMLA in Utah to talk about medical objectification in the poetry book Anarcha Speaks.
If you have literally any advice about grad school in the humanities (or leads on cool conferences), from "I went to this school and it sucked" to "I got this tip for writing SOPs and have never forgotten it", literally just cold email me.
